“When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.”
Horses are very large creatures. They are strong, fast, and heavy. However, humans are able to control the horses by what is called a bit. It’s a very small piece of metal that is put into the horse’s mouth, and it is connected to a piece of rope that the rider pulls. If the rider pulls left, the horse goes left. If the rider pulls right, the horse goes right. If the rider pulls back, the horse stops. It’s amazing to think that such a big creature is control by something as small as a bit; the bit control the horse’s direction.
