10,000 Reasons: The Gift of Dependence (Part 1)


*The seed for this list began when my son’s 3rd grade class began to record all of their gifts, or blessings, as based on Ann Voskamp’s book, One Thousand Gifts. Once I was able to record 1,000 reasons for gratitude, I was inspired by Matt Redman’s song, “10,000 Reasons” to press on. Beyond 1,000 reasons, I felt compelled to find a Scriptural support for each one. Here I break from that format to dig a little deeper.
All Scripture is NIV unless otherwise noted.

1073) I wanted to call this the “Gift of Poverty,” but I realized that would not be accurate. Not at all. As I sit in a home that is far too big for only me and look at the presents my sons received, I know that poverty is not something I can claim. But I have pushed the envelope, at least for me.
